Postharvest Ethylene Treatment - Crop Protection Case Study
March 22, 2022

Labcorp was approached by consultants compiling a dossier for registration renewal (registration review) of commercial gas formulations of ethylene. Ethylene is naturally produced by some fruit and vegetables during ripening and is a promoter of ripening and senescence in many crop species. It has long been in use as a treatment to trigger controlled postharvest ripening of bananas, which are brought into storage in the green unripe state. However, there are insufficient historical data to support a renewal application, and data requirements have become more stringent since the original registration.
